The Ultimate Wedding Timeline

What You Should Be Doing Now

If you’re getting married in the next 6–9 months, you’re officially in the exciting part of wedding planning where things start to take shape. Here’s your essential checklist to keep everything on track without overwhelm.

1. Finalise Your Venue & Date

By now, you should have your venue booked. If not, lock it in as soon as possible - venues set the tone for everything else and often book out well in advance.

2. Secure Your Key Suppliers

Photographers, videographers, celebrants and caterers should be high on your list. The best in-demand professionals often book a year ahead, so finalising these now will save stress later.

3. Say Yes to the Dress

Six to nine months out is the sweet spot for finding your gown. This allows time for ordering, fittings and alterations. Don’t forget to think about accessories and shoes at the same time so you can see the full look come together.

4. Send Save-the-Dates

If your wedding falls in peak season or requires travel, get your save-the-dates out now. This helps guests plan ahead (and gives you peace of mind that your loved ones will be there).

5. Start Thinking Beauty & Wellness

Now is the time to lock in your beauty plan - skincare treatments, hair care, tanning, fitness or wellness routines. Consistency is key, so the earlier you start, the better the results.

6. Budget & Payment Tracking

Check in with your budget, set up a payment schedule and keep everything documented. A little organisation now avoids last-minute surprises.

MBL Tip: Break your to-do list into monthly mini-goals. It feels less overwhelming, and you’ll actually get to enjoy the process of planning your big day.
