Mirror Balls, Burgundy Blooms & the Corfu Sea: Raluca & Ellis

Some weddings happen in a day. Raluca and Ellis's unfolded over four, on an island where the sea is the colour of a postcard and the old town glows pink at golden hour. From seaside portraits beneath the old fortress to a dance floor under a sky full of mirror balls, Corfu did what Corfu does best: it made everything feel like a film.

The Mood

Sun-washed, joyful and unapologetically romantic. Think blush linen, burgundy blooms, a groom in a mustard double-breasted suit and a bridal party in every colour of a Greek summer. Nothing about this day was quiet, and every detail felt like Raluca and Ellis.

For the bride, MBL founder Bonnie-Lee travelled to Corfu to create her hair and makeup. The brief was simple: Raluca, glowing. Skin first and luminous, built to last through Greek heat, happy tears and a very long night of dancing, with soft definition around the eyes and a lip that looked like her, only more so. Her hair was polished and romantic beneath a cathedral-length veil that trailed down sandstone steps and caught every breeze off the water.

The Day

The morning began in a light-filled villa: silk robes, open shutters, a wardrobe of tailored suits and a bride taking a quiet moment in the window before the day began.

Then came the ceremony. Beneath glittering chandeliers, Raluca walked the aisle to Ellis, and they stepped out onto the church steps as husband and wife to a shower of petals and cheers. Their bridal party spilled down the steps in a rainbow of colour, bouquets of deep burgundy in hand.

As the sun went down, the celebration moved to a hilltop garden overlooking the sea. Long tables dressed in blush linen and gold chairs, overflowing grazing tables, burgundy florals, a sky strung with mirror balls and a checkerboard dance floor that never once sat empty.

Raluca and Ellis, thank you for bringing us along to Corfu. What a privilege it was to be part of something so beautiful. Here's to forever, and to many more summers by the sea.
