Silk, Sandstone & a Sea Breeze: Lauren & Michael at Ravella

17 October 2026 · Photography by Sera Luna Co.

Some mornings feel like the opening scene of a film. Lauren's began on a white balcony on The Hill, the Pacific stretched out like a silver ribbon below, a glass of champagne in one hand and her head thrown back in laughter. Behind her, a house full of silk robes, clinking glasses and the women who have loved her longest.

The Love Story

Lauren and Michael met in 2019 through mutual friends, the very same friends who would one day stand beside them at the altar. Six months later the world went quiet, and they spent lockdown in Sydney doing what new love does best: long home-cooked dinners, sleepovers and slow evenings with a drink in hand.

What followed was a love that has been tested, and has only grown softer and stronger for it. Engaged in 2023, they went on to buy a home, renovate it and build a business side by side. In Lauren's words, "We know after getting through everything, we can get through anything." By October there was only one thing left to do: seal the deal.

The Mood

Sculptural. Romantic. Quietly cool. Lauren's structured silk gown by Prea James Bridal asked for a look that was every bit as considered, and the result was pure modern elegance.

Her hair, styled by MBL artist Emma, was a sleek, sculpted bun, polished and close to the head, framing her bone structure and letting the clean lines of her gown take centre stage. Beneath the veil it read timeless. Under the chandeliers it read editorial.

Her makeup, by MBL artist Britt, was skin first and quietly luminous: a lit-from-within glow, softly sculpted cheekbones, gently defined eyes and a lip that felt like Lauren, only better. It held up through happy tears, golden-hour portraits and a dance floor washed in pink flash. Meanwhile, MBL artists Erin and Jessie-Lee had the whole bridal party glowing and right on time.

"What could have been a chaotic morning turned into something so calm and wonderful because of your beautiful team. Everyone was so relaxed, accommodating and they made everyone feel 1 million bucks… My hair and make-up was absolutely perfect and I couldn't have asked for a better team for our wedding day." — Lauren

The Day

Ravella Newcastle unfolded like a love letter: cathedral windows, soft white draping, glittering chandeliers and towering columns of white blooms by Frost Flowers Newcastle. Lauren walked the aisle to Michael, the heavy timber church doors framed their bridal party on sandstone steps, and a vintage white car carried the newlyweds through Newcastle's oldest streets for portraits as the light turned gold.

Then came the second act: a fringed mini, Uptown the Band, and a night that ended exactly as it should, with everyone on the dance floor.

Lauren and Michael, thank you for letting us be a small part of something so beautiful. Here's to forever, and to getting through anything, together.
